Relay for Life 2009 inoshima ( Part 1)

Relay for Life 2009 in Hiroshima ”( Part 1)

We are holding a“Relay for Life in Hiroshima in 2009” from 13:00 on 22rd to 13:00 on 23th September, one whole day (twenty-four hours), in the former Hiroshima citizens baseball stadium.    What is “Relay for Life”?  The reason for this is to symbolize that cancer cells are always on the move, but can be overcome through vigilance. The Japan Cancer Society, JCS, plays the role of coordinator and co-sponsor of the “Relay for Life” project in Japan under a licensing arrangement with the American Cancer Society.  Following a trial in 2006, a "Relay for Life" gathering was held in Tokyo and at another site in 2007, bringing together about 5,000 participants in total. In 2008, JCS expects that more than 10,000 people will likely take part in these gatherings to be held at six sites across the nation from Hokkaido to Kyushu.  http://www.jcancer.jp/english/     We are organized by the executive committee for the purpose of supporting the Survivors Relay for Life 2009 in Hiroshima. If you have an interest in this project, you would please check this website.  http://tv.dreamcraft.jp/

Thank you!

GOENDAMA

I saw a documentary movie called GOENDAMA (which means 5 yen and chance). This film showed a personal exchange between two people. There are two leading characters in this film. One was Yamada Izumi who a teacher form Oita (48 years old), who is fighting cancer in the film. (She died after the film was made, on November, 2008.) Another character is Eric Maria Quturie who is a cello player (35 years old) in Paris. He was born in Vietnam in the 1970’s; he was left as an orphan after birth. He grew up and was educated in France In this film, he played, The Six Suites for Unaccompanied Cello, by Bach. I thought that it had a big influence on audiences, including me.

In this film, he is looking for his identity. He said that he cannot find his identity, but he has got large gifts from all the people he met in Japan.  I truly recommend all people to go and see this film. It is a very subtle film which will have a deep impact on you if you see it.

If you have an interest in this theme, you would please check this website.

Now, we enter the college season. New students who are filled with hope are enthusiastic about nursing.

Gustavo Dudamel is the youngest and the most passionate conductor in the world. From December 11 to 19 in 2008, the Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela performed a series of concerts under the baton of music director Gustavo Dudamel, at prestigious venues of China, Korea, and Japan, and also Hiroshima. This is his website. http://www.gustavodudamel.com/

He was born in Venezuela in 1981. He conducts an orchestra which is very brilliant and rhythmical. We are shown their ability to the fullest.

And I hope that you will be studying like their play. Thank you.

A remembrance ceremony for Sister Nijyo,

I would like to remember the death my friend, a nun, Sister Nijyo.

I attended a remembrance ceremony for Sister Nijyo, on February 21 in Hiroshima, at the Nobori Mati Roman Catholic Church.

I have been feeling very sad since hearing the bad news of her passing so young. Then one of my friends said to me that although her life was too short, it was a very worthy life. People all over the world grieved at the sad news of Sister Nijyo’s death in Chad. And another nun said to us at the ceremony, she imagined that Sister Nijyo will say to God, “Have I already fulfilled my mission? “. We can guess that she is completely at peace with herself, her spirit and God.

I thought that her short life was indeed very worthy.

Some of her friends and colleagues were writing on their websites about Sister Nijyo’s memories and achievements.

If you have a little time, please feel free to go and check.

                                                              Thank you.

All her friends mourned for her death.

My friend, Sister Nijo (35 years old) was involved in a traffic accident on February 2 in Chad. She now rest in Chad. All her friends mourned for her death.

She had been a missionary to help Chad University students, living, eating, studying for two years.

I remembered when she returned to Japan from Chad in July 2008. She came to Hiroshima on July 12-15.

At this time, she had finished the first year of her mission. She said to us that the most important thing for helping other people is first to become happy inside oneself. As a result, we can help the global neighborhood.

I promised her that I would go to Chad to visit and had hoped to meet her any number of times, as we got old.

A X’mas card Sister Nijo gave me said, “Chad is an extremely hot country. This winter temperature was 35 degrees C. But I am in the best of health. Chad’s political situation is not so bad. Furthermore, we pray for the oppressed people of the whole world.”

Some of her friends and colleagues were writing for a homepage about Sister Nijyo’s memories and achievements.

My feeling was very sad. I thought that God had invited Sister Nijyo specially.

A Happy New Year 2009

 A Happy New Year 2009!

Please give my love to everyone and everything!

I went to Kyushu University Hospital in Hakata, in the northern part of Kyushu.  I attended a conference there from Jan. 10-11th

The theme was “The application of ICT (Information and technology) for medical education system (including nurses and other medical co-workers)”.

ICT provides useful tools, PC, mobiles and others technologies for us. I had a stimulating time.

For anyone interested, this is the web-site:  http://www.dent.kyushu-u.ac.jp/html/kouryu3/kouryu3/index.html

By the way, there is Shrine in Hakata ( Touka-Ebisu jinjya) which is located  near Kyushu University Hospital. The Ebisu god is the Japanese god of fishermen, good luck, and workingmen, as well as the guardian of the health of small children. A lot of people go and worship at Touka-Ebisu jinjya around Jan. 10th

I hope that a new year give everyone “Good Luck”!

Red Cross Students guidding high school students  aroud our school.

Associate Prf. Matsubara lectures to paticipants: "Nursing which integrated with patient's feelings".

Mr.Tsukahara who is a clini clown gave a workshop.

The theme was: "Let's how to communicate with people we meet for the first time".

The students were tense and nervous at first, but they made a circle and through the activities, became very relaxed and smiles appeared on everyone's faces.

After lecture, we ate aur "Bentos" with great relish together. The High School Students and Our Students and Staff sat together talking about the usual research being done at the school and also about every day student life. We could share many ideas and good feelings.

In this afternoon we all went by bus to the nearby Hatsukaichi-Kinen Hospital. We then had a lecture and tour of the hospice ward given by the head nurse.

 (Copy Right Hatsukaichi kinen Hospital)

The hospice a place where we seldom go or talk about. Here the students could see and hear and feel directly waht it was like. Then over a snack of juice and cookies, we all had a nice chat with director.

At the end of the schedule, our President and Dean presented to all paticipants certificates of completion of the program.

Thanks again to all those who participated!

Chy-pi Chirdren Education Camp

I attended  Chy-pi Chirdren Education Camp as a nurse staff in Sugi-no-tomari, in northern Hiroshima Prefecture in the middle of August.

THis program was sponsored by Hiroden-Chugoku Shinbun Travel and Hiroshima YMCA. This camp program was with sleeping bags for three nights and four days, and for over third elementary school students in Hiroshima Prefecture.

Chirdren made "Star-Dome-Tents", greeted the rising sun and a sea of clouds ( Unkai ) in the mountais, caught some insects, wrote newspaper articles about these camp experiences.

They had some amazing experiences, because this place did nod use mobile phones, and did not have televisions and lights , nor sweets.  Of course some were bitten by insects.

I believe that they were pretty tired, but this experience will flower in their life someday. I also found more about how to communicate between members of society.  I had a great time.

Thank you to all those who attended this wonderful camp.

This is Home Page.
